I have a client who has built their website using frames. They would like to have someone take their website out of frames because they don't know code etc. and I'm curious is it possible to accomplish this in a cost effective manner or would they perhaps be better off just creating a wordpress website for example one that they can edit and update themselves that's more SEO friendly? Hello, I am trying to use your "SEO Friendly URLs without using .htaccess (needs PHP)" script that I found on Bukisa. I would like to use it with the following url, but can't seem to get it to work. I even altered the index1.php script so that the code in line 11 referes to a .cgi file instead of a .php file. Here's the url: http://www.mydomain.com/cgi/ezshopper/search.cgi?user_id=id&database=link1.txt&template=categorysearchpage.html&distinct=33&1_option=3&1=Jambu Based on the instructions, I changed the $sef_url to read "http://www.mydomain.com/cgi/ezshopper/" and the $sef_mysite to read "http://www.mydomain.com". I just can't seem to format the SEO friendly url correctly. I thought it would be http://www.mydomain.com/search/user_id/id/database/link1.txt/template/categorysearchpage.html/distinct/22/1_option/3/1/Jambu but that just doesn't work. Any help is greatly appreciated. My true problem is that I am on a shared server and therefore can't access the mod_rewrite capabilites by writing an .htaccess file to do what I want to do. Any one have any solutions? Thanks!

Yes unless you want to recode parts of Zen your only solution is to stop Google indexing the shopping cart. there is little point in allowing this anyway.

I have a problem. I am on a shared host and have a database which has grown very large. I need to automatically do operations on it every day but the cron scripts I am using crash because they run out of time and the server stops them. This messes up my database results. Is there any way around this or will I now need a dedicated host?

You can ask your host for an exception for your account. Failing this modify your cron scripts so they do a segment of the database at a time rather than the whole thing. You could (for example) set a timer and allow the script to execute for 20 second before saving the number of the last record processed in a file so that on the next call it can pick up where it left off. With big tasks like this I often dont use cron but add an include on the homepage that calls a virtual machine to do 5 seconds worth of admin tasks on each homepage load if required.

If you go back to the scripts homepage you will see that all you have done is copied the javascript and not the html that goes with it (see bottom box on page). Thus it cannot work!

What does the WHERE part of a SQL expression do? I cannot find an explanation I understand anywhere on the net. I am trying to modify a script somebody else has written, I am OK on php but not SQL

See simple MYSQL tutorial on this site. The WHERE clause is a way of deciding which records in a database table you are going to work on. For example if you had a field called surname and you wanted everybody whose surname was Davies then you would add WHERE surname='Davies' to the query.

What is the difference between top level domains and which is it best to get? I am running a site for a club but we do sell things should I get a .org domain or a .com domain?

There is a heirarchy of preference driven by search engine optimisation, it goes gov,ac,com,org,info,biz,tv,country specific, UNLESS all your business is in one country (maybe you sell cars in italy) in which case you want to show your locality by having a country domain. Even then I would tend to advise get a dot com or biz version of the name as well. In your case if the club is a local one go for a country name like .co.uk or if its worldwide go for .com or .org

A google quake is what happens when your site suddenly either stops recieving traffic from the google search engine or starts to recieve way more than usual. It can be bad, it can be good. Sometimes its only temporary and sometimes almost permanent. To avoid the bad google quakes try to concentrate on getting quality incoming links to several (not just the index page) pages on your site. Good luck!
