Tables and Page Layout

Tables are used for two things in HTML. The use I will demonstrate first is the traditional one - that of organising data. Any table is made of three nested sets of tags. The table itself (<table>), a table row (<tr>) and within that row a set of table data cells (<td>) forming columns. Here are some examples which also contain some useful information:

Are you human?

8270 + 26 =

Now here is the second use for tables and this is where our pages start to look professionally laid out. The following example uses a table to lay out a web page, and that page itself includes a table. Yes its a nested table!

Are you human?

8270 + 26 =

For the first time here I have shown you how to put in comments. They are useful with table based layouts as they stop you getting lost!
